Who is Heidi?
Heidi is a skilled accountant at Elements, with her top five strengths in consistency, responsibility, harmony, adaptability, and realtor. She was recently recognized by Elements’ Executive Team for spotting a fraudulent email that saved the credit union $42,000. Way to go, Heidi!
What does Heidi do?
Heidi handles several tasks within the accounting department but mostly works in accounts payable, GL balancing, and expense reimbursement for Elements employees.
When did Heidi join Elements?
She joined Elements in October of 2017 as a contractor and became a full-time employee only two months later! Her background in finance dates to 2007, when she worked as a receptionist at a community bank on the south side of Indianapolis.
“I quickly learned all about loans and document preparation and ultimately found my niche in the accounting department. In 2012, the bank was sold, and I started up an accounting firm with the former CFO of the community bank. In 2017, the accounting firm ceased operations, and I found a place at Elements Financial,” Heidi shares.
Why does Heidi enjoy working at Elements?
When Heidi and her family relocated to Minnesota in 2019, being able to keep her job meant a lot to her! Not only does Heidi value the remote work options, but she also loves the way Elements supports its employees, members, and the community through special employee benefits, excellent member treatment, and giving back to the city!
When it comes to her role, she takes pride in being consistent.
“Eliminating errors is key in accounting and results in a more accurate picture of the credit union's health. I do this by utilizing checklists, reminders, calendar appointments, and challenging reactive resolutions. I hold the tasks assigned to me very close. They are my responsibility, and I take that very seriously. My manager knows if I’m asked to do something, it will be done,” she explains.
Where can we find Heidi?
Heidi makes the most of the summers in Minnesota by spending time with her family at the lake, watching concerts in the park, riding bicycles, or walking along the town’s trails. In the winter, you can find her and her husband out on the ski slopes, weather permitting. Her current hobbies include reading, babysitting her 10-month-old grandson, and traveling with her husband on long weekends.
What are some “fun facts” about Heidi?
She met her husband on AOL in 1997, long before online dating was even a thing. Heidi is also a huge fan of Gilmore Girls, owning everything from mugs and wall art to stickers and sweatshirts. She has watched the series so many times that she's lost count!
